  1.                            Pernicious Anemia
  2. SYMPTOMS. With pernicious anemia you may experience a red, sore tongue,
  3. weight loss, irritability, difficulty in swallowing, abdominal pain that is
  4. ill-defined, intermittent diarrhea and constipation, numbness of the fingers
  5. and legs and mild depression as well as any of the symptoms for Iron
  6. Deficiency Anemia.
  7. CAUSES. Caused by a failure of the stomach to produce an adequate amount of
  8. the substance that is needed for absorption of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is
  9. required for the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow.
  10. TREATMENT. An injection of vitamin B12 may bring dramatic improvement.
